Bad Hair Day?

As I’ve expressed before, I find the forms of flowers, before and after their peak, very interesting. Here are a few images I took in the yard on this Labor Day:

The normally showy coneflower relinquishes its beauty and begins its return to the soil. Only a spattering of green remains:

Purple Coneflower Past its prime

As I have mentioned before, just about everybody photographs flowers at their peak. I find pre and post-bloom forms just as interesting.

Still trying to finesse my macro lens, but here is a look at some aging purple coneflower, awaiting being deadheaded. I think they look beautiful as they decay.
